11 months ago I had a thought.
‘Wouldn’t it be cool to go to Greece and run the Athens Marathon?’
Um, YES that would be cool! I reached out to a running friend to see if she’d be interested in making the trek with me, and she quickly agreed.
Now here I sit with a packed suitcase, a wallet crammed with euros, and the full body sensation that I’m about to embark on an epic adventure!
Tomorrow starts the journey to Athens with a lengthy layover in Amsterdam on the way, and a week on a peaceful Greek island by myself after the marathon. I will be posting frequently from my adventure to share the highlights, stressful moments, and of course my inevitable blunders.
Traveling to Italy alone last summer for two weeks taught me that international travel, especially when you are alone, will challenge you, change you, and help you grow exponentially as a person.
I am looking forward to sharing this journey with anyone who wants to read it, and I hope that it inspires you to plan an adventure of your own!
